The South Florida Riders Club was formed in July 1996. Great rides, camaraderie, safety, and enjoying Florida roads is what we're about! Although not mandatory, we ride every Sunday (weather permitting). During the summer months (May-Sept) we take 1/2 day breakfast rides that are between 50-125 miles round trip. During the rest of the year (Oct-April) our rides average between 250-400 miles round trip, and last all day. All makes and models of bikes capable of distance riding are welcome.
You must have a valid state driver's license with motorcycle endorsement to ride with our Club. Your ride also must meet the Florida State requirements for operating on public roads.
Our group does not ride with pets for safety reasons for both rider and pet.
Alcohol consumption is prohibited on club rides. SFRC is not responsible for your own safety nor the safety of others. You participate at YOUR OWN RISK
Our rides are structured for safety and organization. We ride in groups of 5-8, staggered position, 2 seconds from the bike directly in front of you, and 1 second from the bike to your side on the highways, and spread out a little on back roads. Ride leaders and tail gunners communicate via headset units to facilitate the group ride and safety. A Safety Briefing is held at the start of every ride.
On the highway, we do the speed limit + 7 and usually ride 1 or 2 lanes to the right of the far left lane as that is a passing lane and it's illegal to stay in that lane and obstruct traffic that wants to pass. (FL statute 316.081 sec 3).
We ride all of Southern & Central Florida from Orlando to the Keys, and in between the East and West coasts. We stay off the main highways as much as possible. Most of our dining destinations are known for their food quality, unique personality and charm, historical Florida value, and/or unique location.
All rides originate at the Wawa on the SW corner of Atlantic Ave & US 441/SR 7 in Delray Beach. We meet Sundays at 7:45am, gas up, pre-ride Safety and Riders' meeting @ 8:20, Kick stands up @ 8:30.
In addition to our weekly rides, we have a monthly meeting the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8:30pm at Hooters in Boca (Glades plaza). There, we plan our rides and activities for the next month while enjoying wing appetizers provided by our sponsor Riva Motorsports.
Interested? Here's what to do: Check out our ride calendar on the Meetup site. Then show up, introduce yourself, and come ride with us. Simple as that! Get to know our style, members, and "test the waters" so to speak to see if it's a good fit. Your first 2 rides require no membership. After 2 rides or less, you'll know if it's usually a good fit, or not. Annual membership dues are $30.00 per calendar year (non-prorated and non-refundable) which entitles you to occasional paid for and/or subsidized lunches, dinners/events, and discounts on parts & labor from our sponsoring dealership Riva Motorsports.
