Thank you, Shari. It was nice that Richelle came to greet us several times to keep us included and I'm sure we were not ignored intentionally, but given that the guys and I *were* sitting at a table with a SSS sign . . . I just wish that a few others from the "other tables" would have done so as well. Outgoing or not, ALL new people appreciate being welcomed and at least acknowledged. I can tell you from talking to enough "newbies" that a lack of inclusion and the noticeable cliques in groups are the MAIN reasons they don't return, volunteer to be even hosts, or remain actively involved in social groups. "Putting yourself out there" is hard for anyone but honestly -- the only difference between introverts and extroverts is the degree of courage each one possesses.

Weather could NOT have been any better! Music was great, too - liked The Front's sound :-) What was rather discouraging, however, is the lack of any welcoming by the organizer for us 'newbies'. Although I had a good time hanging out with Al & Larry, it was uncomfortable to be completely ignored by everyone else from the group (except Richelle) the entire time. If you're going to host an event, please make an effort to welcome new people so they'll want to come back. :-) Isolating oneself at another table creates cliques and comes across as rude and creates an atmosphere of exclusion.

Jennifer, so sorry you felt isolated and alone. Having arrived late I was unaware of who was in the group and who was just there enjoying dinner. I am an introvert and it is hard for me to reach out sometimes but I do try and meet new people. I hope you don't give up on us and come to more events. I am not a host (the whole introvert thing), but sincerely extend my apologies.
