Optimizing WordPress for Shared Hosting Environments - Level: Beginner*

Suzette Franck will speak on Optimizing WordPress for Shared Hosting In this presentation, we'll see how we can make improvements so that WordPress can run faster in a shared hosting environment with the help of several plugins, online tools, and helper applications.

Twenty Thirteen theme overview - Level: Beginner*

Creating a default theme for WordPress - Level: Intermediate*

Konstantin Obenlan will present on the Twenty Thirteen Default Theme. Twenty Thirteen is the brand new Default Theme for WordPress. We will find out what's inside from one of its developers, Konstantin Obenland. We are breaking up this presentation into two parts.

In the first half he will be giving us an overview of what's in the new Twenty Thirteen theme.

After a short break he will get more in depth about what goes into creating a default theme for WordPress. He will discuss the philosophy that they use when creating default themes which will end up being part of the core distribution.

If you are a theme designer or want to be, then you won't want to miss this part of the presentation.

Not only did Konstantin work on this new Twenty Thirteen default theme, but he also help create the Twenty Twelve default theme.

Konstantin Obenlan is a theme Wrangler at Automattic (The Company Behind WordPress.com), Core Contributor to WordPress 3.4/3.5 and a Member of the WordPress Theme Review Team
