New Date: A fun day in DUBLIN: Open-Top Bus, Historic Pubs, Sightseeing... 🍺🍷

Details

Let's try and do this in May 2022...

We had such an amazing time in Dublin last time (2019) that I thought we'd better do it all over again (with some new entries & variations). Interested? Take a look at the feedback....

✪ OVERVIEW... ✪

Once again, this promises to be an amazing day trip with cheap flights currently around £42 return from Southend (as at 20/Feb).

(Wednesday has been chosen because it is the only day Ryanair fly early morning and return late the same evening giving a whole day)

I'm planning a ton of sightseeing, an open top bus tour, walking around the city and of course visits to the oldest and most historic pubs (did you know that Dublin has over 700 pubs?) plus lunch, dinner and many other stops along the way.

There's so much to see and do. With just over 8 hours in the city centre and some careful planning we'll be able to pack in an awful lot and have a fantastic day together. As usual, you can join in with the group, do your own thing or a bit of both, no problem.

* Ryanair Flights approx £42 return (pre-covid prices)
* Fast Coach to/from city @ £20 return
* Open top bus hop on/off day ticket £20

I'll map out the whole day, packing in the sights, the walking and open top bus routes and of course the historic pubs and eating places.

✪ SIGHTSEEING ✪

During the day, we hope to see....

* TEMPLE BAR DISTRICT
* DUBLIN CASTLE
* CITY HALL
* CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL
* ST PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL
* GUINNESS STOREHOUSE

✪ HISTORIC PUBS ✪

There are so many really nice old pubs in Dublin, some historic and some mainly frequented by the locals. Here are a few I'm aiming for....

The Brazen Head, established in 1198 is the oldest pub in Dublin and opened not long after the Vikings left.

The Stag’s Head, established in 1780, is known as one of the most beautiful in Dublin. And there is a stag’s head behind the bar!

Bruxelles, isn’t your traditional dark Irish pub. All of the flags of nations in the EU hang down from the ceiling. Thin Lizzy used to hang out here in the 1970s and this bar has also seen celebrities such as John Denver, 50 Cent, and members of Iron Maiden and Snow Patrol.

✪ WHO CAN JOIN US ✪

It's more comfortable when we know other people on trips away. For this reason, you must have attended at least 3 events in the past 6 months, where you have met me (Mike) at each, before you can join us.

Top of the Morning to ya - hope you can join us....
