I really enjoy working with start-ups and SMEs as they tend to be more dynamic and less set in their ways than Mega Corp, Inc. For a lawyer that means more opportunities to do things in novel ways that really add value to the business, rather than sticking to old methods. I meet as many start-ups and SMEs as I can - from a purely selfish perspective it's great for me to know what's going on in the start-up scene, and to contribute in a small way to the south west market.
No, but the legal market is long over-due some innovation in terms of its use of technology, and I'm keen to speak to people who might have some ideas that my firm's innovation fund could work with.
I've worked as an in-house lawyer at du (a start-up quad-play telco in Dubai) and for Virgin Mobile. Before becoming a lawyer I spent 8 months at On Demand Distribution in the customer support team, which got me interested in tech and start-ups in the first place. My day job involves advising companies at all points in the tech value chain (customer and supplier side) on the contracts that describe their relationships.
I'm a lawyer who advises tech and media companies, from big international telcos to start-ups and SMEs. I've worked as an in-house lawyer with a number of clients, including for a start-up, and am now an Associate with TLT, in the Bristol office.
