For our January meetup we are excited to have presentations from two artists creatively using code and/or electronics to bring life to new forms of experiences. This will be an exciting view into works pushing the boundaries of storytelling and developing tools for creative production.

Michael is the artistic director and co-founder of Wolf 359—a narrative technology company that uses theater and technology to tell stories. Since the company’s founding in 2007, Wolf 359 work has been shown in Berlin, Dublin, Edinburgh, Chicago, and many other cities and city-states.

Their recent piece Temping was featured at the Future of Storytelling Conference in 2016. Temping is the strange and comic tale of an employee's inner life. It is performed for an audience of one via a room, a Windows PC, a corporate phone, a laser printer, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Matthew Steinke is a composer, artist, and educator. His current work extracts musical narratives from found objects that he transforms into hand-crafted robotic instruments.

His installations and performances have been presented in museums, galleries, and festivals across the U.S. and have been featured in Wired, Artweek LA, The Village Voice, The San Francisco Bay Guardian, Spin, Rolling Stone, Keyboard Magazine, Drum Magazine, Hackaday, and on the cover of Tape Op.
