RE: [spanish-891] Costa Rica Trip

Jenny – Thanks for all the planning you do.  We probably won’t be going on this trip but it sounds wonderful.  I have been to Costa Rica twice; once in January and once in July.  Both times were awesome!  We did have some rain but it did not spoil the trip.  Just read up and take what you need for the various ecosystems.  The beauty of Costa Rica.  A good travel doctor, we visited one at OSU, can give you accurate information on the specific areas you will be visiting.  It is good to use caution.  To all who are thinking of going, have fun!  You won’t be sorry.  ¡Pura vida!

Why are you planning the Costa Rica trip for summer?  That is the rainy season there when they have torrential downpours and there are a lot more mosquitos around.  (Some of those mosquitos carry malaria.)  The best time to go is during our winter when the weather in  Costa Rica is sunny and dry.  I went in January 2006 and the weather was beautiful, sunny, and very comfortable and I escaped the icy, cold winter here.

Hi all:  I just wanted to send out an announcement about several things!

1.  I am having an informational meetup this Tuesday at Las Margaritas for people who are interested in the Costa Rica Trip for summer 2012.  If this day doesn't work for you, and you are interested in the trip, please contact me directly.  I am hoping we can get together a group of at least 4 people to do this.

2.  Upcoming meetups: We will be having a salsa/latino dancing meetup at Club Posh on Saturday Sept. 24 in addition to the regular weekly meetups.

3.  Reminder that the Rosetta Stone Raffle deadline is September 30. 2011.

$5 (or more) contribution of Annual Spanish Language Meetup dues made between June 1, 2011 and September 30, 2011 will enter you in the Raffle for a Level 3 (Intermediate) Rosetta Stone Language Program. The cost of this Rosetta Stone Program if purchased through Amazon.com is just under $200.

Again, during the period of time June 1, 2011-September 30, 2011, membership dues contributions will enter you into the Raffle of a level 3 Rosetta Stone Language Program as follows:

$5.00 donation = 1 raffle ticket

$10.00 donation = 2 raffle tickets

$15.00 donation = 3 raffle tickets

$20.00 donation = 4 raffle tickets

And so on!

Please pay your membership dues online. (You must be logged onto the site in order to do so). This will automatically track anyone who has paid. If you are absolutely not able to pay online, you may make arrangements with me (Jenny) directly to pay membership dues. (The amount you have paid will show up on your profile under "contribution" with the date of payment).

Also, if you know of anyone else interested in joining the Columbus Spanish Language Meetup Group, please encourage them to join and pass on our information! http://www.meetup.com/spanish-891/

Thank you all for your continued support. Again we are currently being sponsored by Rosetta Stone and that is why this raffle is possible. Your ideas and feedback to the group are appreciated. Thank you for your enthusiasm for the Spanish language and involvement with the group!
