What we're about

Welcome!

The Spin Off Cyclists Bicycle Club offers rides on the Towpath Trail and area rail trails. The Spin-offs cycle for exercise, pleasure and making friends with other cyclists. We welcome people of all ages, abilities and speeds who want to cycle with a group. We encourage our members to bring their families and friends on the ride.

Our weekly rides include shorter rides for the casual cyclist, and longer faster rides for the recreational cyclist. We offer a varierty of rides on the weekend, often to rail trails in Northeast Ohio and beyond. These rides are excellent opportunities to explore Ohio and neighboring states from a different point of view.

Cycling is easier than most people imagine. It is an excellent form of exercise that yields some great benefits to your health and wellbeing. Why spend the evening or weekend in front of the TV when you can experience fresh air and nature with a fun group of people? We hope to see you on an upcoming ride!

Our Mission

Encourage a healthy and active lifestyle; and open the world of cycling to riders in Northeast Ohio. We accomplish this through bicycle trail rides that encourage self confidence and develop the riding skills of our members while providing opportunities for fitness, fun and friendship.

MADCAP FALL FUN

MADCAP BREW CO.

Ride Name: MADCAP FALL FUN Trail: Freedom Trail, Portage Bike and Hike, short sections of back roads Rating: All Ride Type: Out and Back with a loop Distance: 19.4 miles round trip This ride starts and ends at MadCap Brew Co. The rubber hits the road at 3PM, the warmest part of the day! Here is a link to the route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/25242114 There are a few sections on roads. I will ride sweep on those sections with (my helmet on, and) my flags awavin' and lights aflashin'. From MadCap, we roll west on Overholt Rd for a quarter mile and then west on Cherry for 1/2 mile. Then we continue west on SR 261 for 1/4 mile. After a quick right onto Middlebury Rd, we jump on the Freedom trail. We will pedal on to Tallmadge Lions park for a regroup and possible pee point. Then off we go to wherever the Freedom Trail ends on that date and turn around. On the return, when we get back to Middlebury, instead of retracing our route on the roads, we jog left over the bridge and right onto the Portage Bike & Hike which we stay on til the end at Tannery Park. There, we'll regroup, take a breather, and use the port-a-pot. After the break, we'll take a very quick 100 yard jaunt East on Summit St and turn right on Mogadore Rd, which we follow for 1 mile back to Madcap. So, altogether, about 2 miles on roads. DINNER and BEER AFTER THE RIDE: Now our reward! A MadCap brew or two. AND, the food truck arrives at 5PM, right about when we do. So those who are hungry can enjoy late lunch or early din din. WHAT ABOUT SNOW!??? Well, snow is not likely. BUT... If there's more than 10", we'll just sit in at MadCap, play board games, and drink beer. And who could ask for more?! But DO bring some warmer clothing, as it may get chilly when the sun sets! ☺ _________________________________________________________________________________ Out and back rides are designed with the all cyclists in mind. These rides cycle out of a trailhead to a set destination, typically 8-10 miles away. After a break, the riders cycle back to the departure trailhead. In this case, we split off on the way back to form a small loop at the end. This ride travels at 10 to 15 MPH. We DON'T do pace lines! But we often split into 2 or more small groups riding together at whatever paces are comfortable. We stop occasionally to regroup and try to finish together. Our motto is "No cyclist left behind" If you are a beginner and are going slowly, one of the organizers will stay back with you. This ride is rated for casual cyclists who enjoy cycling on mostly flat trails and short sections of back roads. The route is relatively flat with a few small elevation changes. The ride should be a comfortable ride for both the beginner and experienced cyclist. This ride is on the calendar of the Spin-off Cyclists . We encourage you to join us on this and other rides. We are a group of cyclists of all ages, sizes, body types, ethnicities, political persuasions, religions, sexual orientations, intellectual capacities, and abilities who cycle the trails of Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas for fun, health, and friendship. By accepting this Spin-off Cyclists Bicycle Club event’s RSVP and attending this event, I certify that I have read and voluntarily agree to the RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT. End Of Season Dinner (We'll Still Ride Till It's Too Cold Though)

Stow Panini’s Bar & Grill

Let's meet for a close to end of season get together on Wednesday Oct 23. 6pm until... We will have a guest speaker for about 10-15 minutes on Veterans Trail. We still will be riding until the weather doesn't cooperate. This event is on the calendar of the Spin-off Cyclists. How we ride: We are a group of recreational cyclists of all ages and abilities who cycle the trails of Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas for fun, health and friendship. No pace lines here, but we know people like to ride at different speeds, so we sometimes break into two or three groups of riders traveling at the pace they enjoy. However, we start together, end together, and stop occasionally to regroup. Our philosophy is "No man or woman left behind", so we designate one of the group organizers to ride "sweeper" in case a newer rider has trouble keeping up or anyone has mechanical difficulties. If you need to return or for any other reason leave the ride early, please remember to notify the leader, the sweeper, or any other group organizer so that we may account for everyone. We encourage you to join us on this and other rides, matching the ride difficulty and distance with your ability. By accepting this Spin-off Cyclists Bicycle Club event’s RSVP and attending this event, I acknowledge that I have read and voluntarily agree to the RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT.
