Ride Name: Peninsula Lock 29 to Chippewa Creek Gorge
Trail: Towpath Trail and Brecksville All Purpose Trail
Rating: Beginner
Ride Type: Out and Back
Distance: 18.0 miles round trip

The Brecksville All Purpose Trail is a new one for many of us. This should be a fun and beautiful ride. We start at Lock 29 trailhead in Peninsula and ride north to Brecksville Station on the crushed limestone towpath.

There, we pick up the paved Brecksville All Purpose Trail and pedal West to the Chippewa Creek Gorge scenic overlook. We'll spend a little time there and take a short hike on the Hemlock Loop Trail. With a little luck, trees may be starting to turn.

Then, we will retrace our tracks back to Peninsula, where those who are hungry can enjoy lunch at The Winking Lizard Tavern housed in the historic site of The Peninsula Nightclub. If it's a warm day, the patio MAY be open!

Out and back rides are designed with the intermediate and advanced cyclist in mind. These rides cycle out of a trailhead to a set destination, typically 8-10 miles away. After a break, the riders cycle back to the departure trailhead.

This ride travels at 10 to 15 MPH. We DON'T do pace lines! But we often split into 2 or more small groups riding together at whatever pace is comfortable. We stop occasionally to regroup and try to finish together. Our motto is "No cyclist left behind" If you are a beginner and are going slowly, one of the organizers will stay back with you.

This ride is rated for casual cyclists who enjoy cycling on mostly flat trails. The trail is relatively flat with minimal elevation changes. The ride should be a comfortable ride for both the beginner and experienced cyclist.

This ride is on the calendar of the Spin-off Cyclists . We encourage you to join us on this and other rides. We are a group of cyclists of all ages, sizes, body types, ethnicities, political persuasions, religions, sexual orientations, intellectual capacities, and abilities who cycle the trails of Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas for fun, health, and friendship.
