  • Sat 22 - HIKE&SWIM Navacerrada to Cotos - Forests, creeks and pools

    Intercambiador de Moncloa

    €18.00

Welcome to a fresh and medium level hike. Mostly under the shade of beautiful centennial pine trees and along the waters of different creeks, with a couple pools to take a dip. Perfect to flee the city and dive into the wild mountains because it's completely out of the typical hikes people do around here. It will be mostly us all the way! THE HIKE Forests, rivers and valleys, a realm of peace and nature. We'll be doing a fantastic downhill and then uphill hike from Puerto de Navacerrada until Puerto de Cotos, along the banks of a couple creeks, stopping at two water holes and crossing through pretty bridges. SPECS • Type: Lineal • Level in average: Medium. (To determine the level of the hikes, the number of kilometers is the least important factor, since the effort involved in walking that distance depends entirely on the incline angle (steepness), if it's uphill or downhill, and for how long you'll be walking that incline angle. And it also depends on the type of terrain: trail, mud, rocks, sand, gravel... A lot of distance but on a flat, gradual, well groomed path is easier than a very short distance, but all uphill on a very steep angle and on a rocky terrain) INDEPENDENT FACTORS TO DETERMINE THE AVERAGE LEVEL • Incline: Medium. Downhill for half the day, then uphill for the second part, gradual, not steep except in a couple short stretches. • Distance: Easy/Medium. 14 km • Duration: Medium (including all of the LONG breaks for swimming, pictures, lunch, rest): Around 6/7 h (approx) • Terrain: Easy. Flat for the most part, some wet stretches maybe closer to the river banks. HOW TO GET THERE Please be there at least 15 minutes in advance, metros run a lot less often on weekend mornings and you may need some time to find the correct bus in Moncloa, plus once the bus fills up there will be no more spots, so remember to leave home with plenty of time or you'll miss the bus! • Take bus #691 from Intercambiador Moncloa at 9:00 am.
