Łukasz Wałejko (TT Science) will share his insights on building complex web applications using the Shiny framework, drawing from his remarkable experience across diverse programming languages like Python, TypeScript, and more (we counted 10!). While new to R with just six months of production use, Łukasz stands out as a rare example of a seasoned software engineer entering a space typically dominated by scientists transitioning into programming. His deep technical knowledge and versatility as both a backend and frontend developer make his perspective especially intriguing. Having worked on projects ranging from healthcare financial analysis to open-source tools for annotating wildlife footage, he will discuss not only the technical challenges and advantages of Shiny but also how his broader engineering mindset influences his approach to development in R.
