Basil Thai

I scheduled a dinner here a few months ago, but apparently the date didn't work for those who were interested. I'm giving it another try because the combination of very good food and a location that should be convenient to many of our members just seems like a no-brainer.

Basil Thai is one of those restaurants that could fool you. Situated in a strip mall on Route 3A in Quincy, it has all of the seating capacity and aesthetic appeal that its location might lead one to expect. Truthfully, I might not have paid much attention to it but for my chance overhearing of a young man raving about the place while I was waiting for my car to be inspected. :)

It turned out the kid was right - their version of coconut soup, for example, is probably as good as they make it at my favorite Thai restaurant, Lime Leaf.

Want to see for yourself? This location should be quite convenient for many of our members, so I'm betting that a few of you will - specifically, on Wednesday, April 23rdth at 6:30 in the evening.

Glad I got to see Alison again and meet Paula and Cathy. I think Basil Thai is a good example of a place that it would be easy to overlook if not for Meetup - a tiny place in a strip mall with limited seating. But the food is worth the trip.
