Let's meetup at a brilliant concert by The Queen's Six
Details
We are very lucky to have The Queen's Six performing at St. Bart's on 8th July.
Based at Windsor Castle, Dan, Tim, Nick, Dom, Andrew and Simon, who comprise The Queen’s Six, are also Lay Clerks of St George’s Chapel. On a daily basis they can be found singing in The Royal Chapel, often at state occasions in front of the Royal Family. Individually, members of The Queen’s Six regularly appear in all of the most prestigious vocal ensembles on the national and international circuit, including Tenebrae, Polyphony, The BBC Singers, The Cardinall’s Musick, Collegium Vocale Gent, The Gabrieli Consort, Exaudi, the King’s Consort, The Tallis Scholars and The Sixteen.
In 2008, they formed male vocal a cappella ensemble, the Queen’s Six, in which they apply their considerable musical talent to a varied repertoire encompassing early chant, florid Renaissance polyphony, madrigals, haunting folk songs and upbeat jazz and pop arrangements – there is truly something for everyone! The familiarity of living and singing together every day in The Royal Chapel lends this ensemble its distinctive closeness and blend, as well as an irresistible informality and charm. They have recently released their debut CD, Music of The Realm: Tudor Music for Men’s Voices, featuring some of the numbers being performed in this concert. Future plans include a further CD and a busy international performance schedule. To find out more about them or hear a clip of their singing, go to www.thequeenssix.co.uk . The programme includes pieces from Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Thomas Weelkes, Thomas Morley, Duke Ellington and The Beatles, among others, all done in the Queen's Six' inimitable style! The concert is a fundraiser for SABRE, St. Bartholomew's Restoration Fund. Ticket price is £15 (Concessions £12). Tickets will be reserved for those confirming.
The bar opens at 7.00pm and the concert starts at 7.30pm. It's going to be an enjoyable evening. Hope to see you there!
