Details

This month we're focussing on the value of side projects. We have a talk from Adam Davis followed by our famous open discussion with Trevor Adams.

We'll be at the Apothecary (formally The Post House) on Wednesday 19th July. We'll be there from 6pm with talks starting at 7pm.

As with all our events, we welcome both newcomers and existing members. It's free to attend, there's free food and a drink waiting!

There is plenty of free parking available around Stafford. We recommend visiting Parkopedia (http://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/locations/stafford_united_kingdom_gcqkrtpv311/?arriving=201706211800&leaving=201706212100) to see all of the available parking. Tenterbanks Car Park (http://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/carpark/tenterbanks/st16/stafford/) is likely the closest. However, spaces are limited. Broad Street Car Park (http://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/carpark/broad_street/st16/stafford/) is just a short walk way. Both Tenterbanks Car Park and Broad Street Car Park are free after 5:30pm.

Thanks to our sponsors for this event – iWeb (https://www.iweb.co.uk/) and The Deskspace Project (http://www.deskspaceproject.co.uk/), run by TopCashback’s Charity (TopCharity).

The value of side projects
Adam Davis (https://twitter.com/webmull)

Side projects are important, you can exercise your own creativity and build all sorts of random things. They allow you to pick up new skills and expand your knowledge along the way. They can just be for fun, or they may even turn into commercial success stories, or sometimes fail… but ultimately they allow us to learn something new, and more importantly, you're the boss! In this presentation I will go through the value of side projects in more detail, running through some success stories and also showing you a side project I've worked on using an Amazon Echo Dot.

Discussion Session (Lean Coffee)
Trevor Adams (https://twitter.com/trevorjadams)

Our interpretation of Lean Coffee (http://leancoffee.org/), a fast paced open discussion. Using sticky notes, during the break people will post up questions or talk topics. You will have the opportunity to vote for the sticky notes that you find the most interesting. We'll then open the floor for a short discussion on each topic.

Food/dietary requirements
------------------------------------------

The Apothecary lay out a nice buffet-style spread for us. There's probably enough to make this your evening meal. There is a good selection of food including plenty of vegetarian options. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know ahead of time and we'll do our best to accommodate.
