Analytics is the use of data and analysis to improve the performance of an organization. In other words, it's the search for a free lunch. Ergo, we combine compelling speakers with a free lunch.

This month we explore open source and open data analytics.

Our sponsor this month is IBM and our speakers include:

Dony Alex, Open Government at Government of Alberta, will be speaking about the Open Government Program.

Taj Darra, Open Source Analytics Data Scientist at IBM, who will be giving a brief overview of the evolving landscape of open source data analytics tools.

Koosha Golmohammadi, Data Scientist at the Analytics Centre of Excellence (ACE) at the City of Edmonton, will present some of the advanced analytics projects that are developed at ACE to improve municipal operations and services. These methods mash up data from various resources such as internal databases, Open Data, and web services using different channels and APIs. Machine learning algorithms are adopted for building models on the data to optimize resource allocation and scheduling as well as extracting actionable insights for decision making.

Food starts at 11:45, speakers start at high noon.

We hope to see you there.

For those unable to attend in person, check out our live stream (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqWzvS5plis).

Our hashtag for social media is #lunchalytics.
