We all know we live in an amazing place… the Global Startup Community is also discovering this.
As part of a new series of events for StartupSB we will expose our community to innovative startup related programs, events, and technology happening in the US and globally – THIS THURSDAY (July 10) we are welcoming Rob Irizarry to Santa Barbara for a casual brown bag lunch discussion.
In an open conversation and discussion with our community, Rob will share a bit about what is going on in Montana and how the community is fostering entrepreneurship (which interestingly has a lot of similarities to Santa Barbara), talk a bit about his experiences working with Blackstone, and discuss some of the programming initiatives launched in Montana. We hope you’ll join us to lean and help share what is going on in Santa Barbara, so both communities can continue to innovate and grow!
More About Rob
Rob has a background in hardware and software technology in the finance, garment and automotive industries, with twelve of those years engaged in pioneering multi-tenant Software as a Service for the Customer Experience market. He’s been involved in multiple startups in a variety of roles and now spend time split between investing in and coaching startups and working to improve education at all levels to help prepare America's youth for the technology that will shape their (and our country's) future.
Rob has worked in and with public and private sector organizations from 10 people to the Fortune 10 building systems, processes and teams in the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South Africa and spent a decade living in Asia.
Rob is currently the director of the Blackstone Launch Pad at Montana State University, and has launched some amazing programs in Montana including Code Montana, a statewide program for high school students that teaches computer programming, rewards students with prizes along the way and prepares youth in Montana for high paying careers in technology in Montana, as well as Montana Programmers.
His latest venture Kudoso, just launched on kickstarter this week and has picked up press globally, including Iceland, Fiji, Brazil, India, Australia and more and Tech Crunch, USA Today, and Engaget in the US.
Rob is here for two weeks with family while one of his sons attends a Soccer Camp at UCSB… so forgive us if we mention futbol a few times.
The event is open to the first 30 people that register (for free) at: http://www.meetup.com/startupsb/events/193742592/
Bring your own lunch!
Hope you can join us this Thursday, July 10th at 12:30 to chat with Rob and stay tuned for more Startup Ambassadors events.
