CocoaPods: The Absolute Best Way to Incorporate Open-Source Libraries into iOS

Why should we care:
If your mobile developers are still dragging open source libraries into XCode, listen up: we've got a tool that will accelerate their workflow, position your code to scale elegantly, and get your app to market faster. Watch live as we stand up an app in under 30 minutes using CocoaPods—the first-rate dependency manager for Objective-C projects. Big-name companies like GitHub, Parse, Square, Facebook, Amazon and Mobile SaaS companies are all major contributors to the exploding list of CocoaPod libraries—that makes it more than just a fad.

Meeting format:

• 6:45 - 7:00 » registration & mingling

• 7:00 - 7:30 » presentation/live demo

• 7:30 - 8:00 » Q&A/closing

About the presenter:
Matt Bowman is the Chief Technology Officer at Citrrus—a mobile consulting agency located in Tysons Corner, VA. After receiving his Computer Science degree from Yale, Matt applied his software development talents across the automotive, healthcare, and online advertising industries. With more than 13 years of software development and senior leadership experience—3 years in mobile alone—Matt is an empowering role model and leading contributor to open source iOS resources. Influenced by Patrick Lencioni, Joel Spolski, Fred Brooks, Martin Fowler, Alistair Cockburn, and Ken Blanchard he inspires teams to go on and do great things. Matt effectively engages with younger audiences of all sizes and is an asset to any panel of developers or technical thought leaders.

At Citrrus, Matt is responsible for building our incredible development team who create great things for our clients. He is our resident handyman, a competitive eating champion, and a record-setting freestyle/Individual Medley swimmer at Yale University.

Will this talk also include ways of creating cocoapods or perhaps seperating big parts of your app into different pods techniques? Accessing pods in dev environment from a custom github podspec?

Wil - great questions! I'll ask Matt and get back to you!

We will probably touch on ways of creating Cocoapods and access pods in the dev environment from a custom github, but probably not separating big parts of an app into different pod techniques (you can corner Matt or other members of the Citrrus dev team and get their take on that piece)
