Explore the dawn light raking across some of the most beautiful rocks in Colorado. You will want to get up early, bring your coffee, tripod, cable release and a jacket. We will park in the canyon and walk up the Fowler trail (1 mile or so) to several excellent shooting locations. This trail parallels the lower canyon and puts you at 500 feet or more above the creek for direct shots at the rocks.
Exposure tips and advice for shooting in challenging light conditions. And an intro to shooting for HDR photography. Bring your questions and troubles and we will work on them on location.
Meet a half mile past the Eldorado Canyon State Park entrance at the Fowler Trail head. There is parking and nearby if needed. See the link to the map below to see the spot. NOTE: it is possible that the road is still closed because of the 2013 flood damage at the lower parking lot. If that's the case the time will be adjusted 15 minutes earlier so we can walk the half mile to the trail head.
Donation is $25 per photographer if you have fun and learning something. Payable at the end of the walk only.
PARKING NOTE: the park has an entrance fee but no one is there taking it this early in the morning BUT they may stop you on the way out. My vehicle has a parks pass so I can take 1 or 2 in with me. The problem is that parking is a literal nightmare in the town of Eldo Springs. Let me know if you'd like to carpool in with me and we will meet up at Hwy 93.
Limit of 4 participants for this location. Sign up early!
