I saw the meetup suggestion with the NoFlo (http://noflojs.org) creator. Is there perhaps an interest for a separate Visual Programming meetup?

About to go to my first Sthlm.js! How is the "mingling factor"?
    I'm searching for a JS hacker/architect for a visual programming startup: http://www.weld.io/hacker.wanted/

    • Tomas E.

I would say that the mingling factor ususally is top notch. Usually the best JS developers in stockholm is there.

I like this sthlm.js XL concept, there is no more stress to register in the first seconds !

Just thinking --- what is the cost of renting this place (or similar ones) for an event?

      For future events,
would it cover the rent if we, 200+ participants, just paid a fee of 100 - 150 SEK, at the door?
If so, I think it would be worth it, and nobody needs to be left out.

If people had to pay this would hugely cut the numbers. I suggested this before and it seems the meetup admins (correctly) believe that for an open and free technology like Javascript, the entry barriers should be lowered as much as possible to be popular and more effective. However, all of these companies that provide the venue are actually sponsoring it. If a company doesn't have a venue but still wants to support this meetup maybe THEY can rent the place. Just a suggestion.

This number complied with the calculations we did on two meetups ago. 250 people are registered so far. With a 20% drop rate (a common rate in meetup.com) the number of people who actually attend the meetup will be around 200. However, the hype around STHLM.JS may actually attract more irrelevant people so the drop rate may be higher than 20%. But as we concluded before, if a venue can support around[masked] people, there wouldn't be much problem for the main audience to get a seat.

If a venue is smaller, it would help to have less speakers (2 instead of 3) to control the interest in the group and also have something for a shortly upcoming meetup.

I'm glad that people didn't have to fight throuth the doors of this meetup and maybe we can have even more speakers for this great evening now that so many people are present "vi måste passa på"! ;)

Thanks Iteam and meetup admins for making it happen.
