Ben Oss and Beinn Dubhchraig Munros - Strenious

Details

Join Forth Valley Young Walkers group for a walk to do the Ben Oss and Beinn Dubhchraig munros.
Ben Oss and Beinn Dubhcraig are satellites of mighty Ben Lui. Although the mountains themselves are not particularly distinguished, the approach walk leads through natural pine and birch forest and is very picturesque, though also very wet. Beinn Dubhcraig offers a fine view down Loch Lomond, whilst the Ben Lui looks simply magnificent from Ben Oss.

Please note that this walk may be cancelled at short notice in case of adverse weather.

The walk is at moderate pace, easy going uphill.

Distance: 24km / 15 miles
Elevation: 1230m

Terrain: Extremely boggy path on the lower approach. Higher up the going is drier; the ridges are broad but rocky and undulating and with some crags - can be confusing terrain in poor visibility - we may use a detour path to aviod the worst part of the bog.

If you need lift, please comment in the comment section.

You'll need full waterproofs, water, plenty of warm layers, proper grippy footwear and a reasonable level of fitness. An idea of what you could include in your personal kit list can be found here: https://www.ramblers.org.uk/news/blogs/2018/march/packing-your-kit.aspx
Please do get in touch if you've any questions. The walk is for over-18s, unless you're accompanied by a responsible adult.
In the event of extreme weather, we may take an alternative route. I will take that decision at least two days in advance - and notify attendees.
Please also bring your Ramblers Membership Card or download the Ramblers app which includes a QR code of your membership (if you are a member) as we'll be using the Ramblers walk registration app. If you're not yet a member, you're very welcome to come and we can register you as a guest :)
You can attend three Ramblers walks for free to see if it's for you before joining. More details at www.ramblers.org.uk/scotland
