Brave Conversations: Finding Your Voice in Hard Times
Details
It's all well and good to encourage someone to use their voice, but the key to success is practice, being prepared to speak up - no matter what the subject is.
Join us for an interactive workshop with Jess Vice, UX researcher and strategist, who will share some practical tips about how to put your money where your mouth is - even in the office. We'll spend some time looking at the types of conversations that feel hard and brave – like asking for a raise, setting a boundary with a colleague, admitting we're wrong, or speaking up in support of a colleague. Then, we'll explore when to have those conversations.
Perhaps, most importantly we’ll talk about the HOW behind brave conversations, considerations of physical and emotional safety, desired outcomes, and your audience. We'll practice what we learn in breakout groups with a little role play, so when you do find yourself in a difficult situation, your mind and body have experience supporting you as you speak up bravely.
