English book swap!

Bring your books and be ready to trade! English books only, please. Fiction, non-fiction, any subject, any book. For each book you bring, you will receive a ticket which will give you one book selection from the pile. If you bring ten books to trade, you will get to choose ten books. There will be a selection queue system so that each person will get one selection per round. Trades can take place after all selections have been made. The first thirty minutes of the meet-up will be gathering of the books, drinking of coffee, and mingling of participants. After that, the swapping will begin!

If you intend to participate, please let us all know in advance and an approximate number of books you will bring.

Location: Kulturhuset Stories on the bottom floor of Kulturhuset.

Hej Samuel and the ladies who showed up on Saturday, there were some great suggestions where to get used and cheap books in Stockholm. I need your help to remember all of the locations, so if you could list them below, it would be much appreciated. THANKS!
    Suggestions I remembered:
Red Cross (books for 10 kr/ locations) http://www.redcross.se/kontakt/motesplatser/?county=01
Book Crossing: (free book exchange/ locations)http://www.bookcrossing.com/hunt/14/13274/

Thanks for arranging the meetup today Samuel. I had fun meeting everyone and getting some books that maybe I would not have picked up myself. Off to reading... Have a great rest of the week.

Received another message from the manager. She says 11:00 is usually much better than 14:00, that it will be much easier for us to get a large table at that time. She said 12-15:00 are heavy hours. Does 11:00 instead of 13:00/14:00 work for everyone?

    1 · January 21, 2014

    • Mela

I won't make it at 11:00 due to a prior engagement. Next time for me, then. :) have fun!

      11 is ok for me

      January 22, 2014

Okay, going to book the table for 11. Would just hate to show up at 14 and not have a space. That place can get packed. Apologies to those who wanted to come but cannot make the earlier time. I would like to have more book swap meetups so keep an eye out.

    11 is good for me

I would definitely prefer 14:00. Now up to 8 books!

We could come if it is moved to 11. :)

Unfortunately I have just been informed that I will have to work on Saturday morning and can no longer come at 11, I might be able to make 14.

Coming with husband (and baby), we've got at least 2 books (fiction), and will attempt to purge the bookshelf of our nonfiction.

Sure, I can do it at 11.

    1 · January 22, 2014

She is willing to book two long tables for us at 11:00, meaning we have a guaranteed spot to meet. How many of you are able to swap to 11:00? I need to let her know tomorrow if we want that time slot.

    January 22, 2014

  • Song B.

Sorry, Time change will make it too stressful for us to make it-having guest that evening. :(

    January 21, 2014

  • Samuel

Okay, another manager from Kulturhuset Stories just emailed me that they do not accept table bookings during lunchtime (between 11 and 14), so our table is no longer booked. I asked her if we could book a table a bit later, at 14:00 instead of 13:00. Awaiting her response. She did say that it is usually pretty packed there during lunch, but after the rush, things open up quite a bit. So we have three choices: 1) we can all just show up at 1300 and hope there is room for us; 2) come one hour later when the chances of finding an open table are better (or perhaps get a 1400 booking approved by the manager); or keep the 1300 schedule and move someplace else that is more of a sure thing. What do you say? Any other location suggestions? I will look around again myself.

Maybe coming at 2:00 and crossing our fingers is best

      1 · January 20, 2014

If there's a chance we don't get to sit as a group if we turn up at 13:00 then I would rather come at 14:00

    I'd be ok with 14:00! (option 2)

    1 · January 19, 2014

Only have one or two books to bring, hope that is ok. Find myself reading/buying books on on kindle more and more, to my shame!

    1 · January 19, 2014

Booked a table for 10-15 people. Please be prepared to buy a cup of coffee or something small to eat to show our appreciation to the café for letting us gather there. Should be fun!

    January 17, 2014

  • Samuel

I have a ton of books, but will probably bring only 20 or so.

Okay, Kulturhuset it is! Kafé Kulturhuset Stories. I will ask if we can reserve a table.

    January 15, 2014

"Stories" on the lowest floor of Kulturhuset worked before (it is close to the library in case you want to donate any leftover books in the end). I'll bring around 10 books I think.
