Day Trip to Uppsala!

Day trip to Uppsala, Sweden this Monday!

Meet at Stockholm Central Station for the 10:10 train to Uppsala. Train costs about 80kr each way. Uppsala is just 40 minutes away.

I have spent a lot of time in Uppsala. It is a great university city with a lot of historical significance. Over 700 years old, the city has a castle, largest cathedral in northern Europe, botanical gardens, home of Carl von Linne, and more. We will go to picknikflotten and spend an hour or so floating on the Fyris river in the center of town. Can bring a picnic, or buy hamburgers on board. Indy folk guitarist Bay Uno is coming along and gonna play on the river.

After that we will walk the landmarks of the city. It's a long loop, but we won't have to go fast. Just bring very comfortable walking shoes.

The weather right now is good. 23 degrees and a little cloudy. But bring a jacket for later if the weather cools.

Trains run every hour, so any time someone wants to go back to Stockholm they can. There is a great nightlife in Uppsala with the outdoor cafes and pubs in the park. Stay as long as you want.

If you want to come along, send me a message and we will coordinate where to meet on the train to Uppsala.

The train to Uppsala departs at 10:11am & almost always going from track 3. But you can double check that on the departures sign in the station.

We want to be in the carriage furthest from the station, because that is the side that comes in closest to the station in Uppsala. We will meet onboard the 2nd class carriage furthest from the station. Train costs 84kr each way. You can buy from the machines at the station, or online at www.sj.se. You do not need to book in advance. This is a regular, hourly commuter train. So you don't need to get your return to Stockholm until you're ready to come back. That way you can stay in Uppsala as long as you want. Last train back departs Uppsala at 22:11.
