Our secont chance to photograph the Milky Way this year will be at Holmbury Hill
Weather permitting, this will be an excellent date for the event as there is a new moon and the Milky Way will be arching overhead.
The Galactic Centre will be visible in the South West for 50 minutes.
18:47 : Sunset
20.38 : Astronomical twilight begins
20.38 to 21.30 galactic centre visible
There is a 10 minute walk from the car park to the summit so please bring a torch.
This is not a workshop but there will be people present who will be able to help if you are unsure of the camera settings, so don't worry if you haven't tried this before.
A tripod is essential.
If you're going to use a torch during the shoot please cover it with a red gel to protect your, (and everyone else's), night vision.
A wide angle lens is best to allow you to capture a large region of the sky. Also a lens with a wide aperture, (f 2.8 would be ideal), to let in as much light as possible.
PARKING AND MEETING POINT
We will meet at Hurtwood Car Park 1, Radnor Road RH5 6NU (free).
The car park is on a narrow road and is accessed up a fairly steep sandy slope.
The Sat Nav will probably take you a little bit too far South along Radnor Road. Please see the map pin below for the exact location.
Better still, navigate using the what 3 words app ...

There is a £2 attendance fee to assist with the running of the group.
Please pay at the meetup point. Thank you.
