Subject: [sushi-112] Stepping down as organizer

Hi folks. Your organizer here.

In more or less 30 days, I will be stepping down as organizer of this group. After two tours of six months each, I think it is time to pass the mantle. If you are interested in taking over, please contact me. My stint as organizer runs through December 19. You should be aware of the following if you are thinking of doing this:

- Your main job will be providing money to Meetup to keep the group going. Currently, fees are $15/month or $72 for six months.

- If you step up as organizer and use your credit card to pay the fees, Meetup will NOT notify you when your time is running out, but will automatically charge your credit card. I questioned them on this and they said that in agreeing to be organizer I also agreed to have my credit card automatically charged(!). So, you'll have to be aware of when your stint as organizer expires.

- Other than the above, the duties of organizer are almost nothing: responding to the occasional complaint or request for removal. I think I have had one of each in my year as organizer.

If you are interested in keeping the group going, perhaps you can come up with a better way of funding the group than relying on one person to put up the money.

Winnie
