• SHUFFLE OFF TO BUFFALO (Wagon)
Danny at the Buffalo Wagon has provided us with Sushi events almost since the Restaurant started. We haven't been here in a while and I received requests from some of our Members to come back...so here we are.. Located on Metro Park Rd. off of Wolf Rd. in Albany, this restaurant may be an undiscovered treasure for some. Danny has put together a great meetup for us. This will be all-you-can eat sushi/sashimi/rolls for $25.00 tax, tip & soda/tea included. Wine, Sake, and other alcohol is cash bar. Join us and see what surprises Danny has in store for us this time. Please join us and as always, remember our cancellation policy: Cancel online before the deadline, noon on the day of the meetup, to avoid being cut off from the ability to RSVP in the future or being asked to leave the Meetup group. We owe a lot to the restaurants that provide us with such great events. Let's be sure to respect them with accurate numbers. If you haven't been here before you will be extremely pleased with the freshness and thee presentations. Danny always has a few surprises in store for us. New Members, this is a great way to enjoy your first Meetup with us.

  • ASIAN TEA HOUSE BECKONS AGAIN
The last time I wrote up a Meetup for this place I said ... I always like it when a restaurant contacts me and says that they would love to have us back again. Ken, at the Asian Tea House in E. Greenbush, is looking forward to amazing us with some delightful cuisine. WELL, HE DID IT AGAIN!! Ken called and asked how we were doing and would we like a Meetup. No price increase from last time and definitely the same great quality. For those of you who have joined us at the Asian Tea House in the past, you know that our host, Ken, always has great surprises for us. A number of our members have claimed that the Asian Tea House has the best Hot & Sour soup in the Capital District. As a matter of fact I am driving to FL this weekend and stopping to visit friends along the way. I asked one former Member now living in Myrtle Beach if there was anything I can bring down from Albany. The answer? YES, PLEASE BRING ME SOME HOT & SOUR SOUP FROM THE ASIAN TEA HOUSE. Ken will be starting with fabulous appetizers like his Sushi Pizza, a definite winner. His sushi pizza always makes a hit. You will enjoy items that are unique to this fine establishment. We are scheduled for Wednesday, August 8th at 6:30 PM. Enjoy various appetizers and exciting finger food and after your appetite is aroused you will be served all of the sushi you can eat. The cost is $25.00, tax and tip included, will also include soda and tea. Alcohol, like always, will be for an additional charge. The limit is 40 Members and Guests. With a Membership of over 1,800, let's get our appetites aroused and fill this event. We met new Members at our last Meetup. Time to meet more. Come see what you're missing.

  • GOURMET DINING AND WINE TASTING AT SAMURAI
We've been here before and have enjoyed some of the finest surprises in Sushi cuisine provided especially for us bby Jerry at the Samurai. The multi course dinner will include some specialty items not found on the regular menu. We're going to do it again but now we are going to add a spectacular wine tasting event. This is a new plan for our gourmet dining and in order to give attendees the very best experience, Jerry has limited this program to 15 diners only. The cost will be $65.00, including tax. The gratuity will be extra. We are going to continue our "dress up for dinner" dress code so dress toimpress. Because of the high cost of the wines and food, this will be a pre-pay. If you sign up, your reservation is not confirmed until you have paid. First sign up and then arrange the payment in order to save your spot. If you want to pay by check, mail the check payable to Ed Haddad, 26 Nicholas Drive, Albany, NY 12205. If you want to pay by credit card, call in your card to the Samurai, tell them it's for the Meetup and askthem to call me to confirm receipt. PLEASE use the waiting list feature. If we have enough Members that were toolate, we will run another one. Just ask the Members who have attended this event (without the wine tasting) in the past. Noone wasever disappointed. Don't miss this one.

  • WE FOUND JASON AGAIN-AT SAKE BON
    • What we'll do Years ago, Joel and I were at Koto's and we heard noise from the Hibachi tables. Next thing we knew we were partying with that table and Jason was the Chef. we were so impressed that this Meetup started following him. Well it won't be hard to find him now. He owns the SAKE BON. Jason, together with his staff, are presenting us with a Hibachi feast on May 22. The menu includes Steak, shrimp, chicken and salmon together with all of the fixins for $25.00. Combination of the above meats will cost $29.00. If you want ONE of the above meats and want to add Filet Mignon or Scallop as your second meat, the price will be $31.00. Or for Lobster $33.00. The price includes tax and gratuity. The price will not include soda or alcoholic beverages. We have space for 50 people at the tables and I am betting that they will go fast. Here is an opportunity for our Saratoga, Schuylerville, Ballston Spa, Lake George and other members from the North to reunite with the Southern members for a fabulous time. Also, we had a good number of first timers join us at Sushi X. Some were new members and some were long standing members who had not yet come to a Meetup. Every one of them had a great time, met other members and are planning to come back over and over. Do you fall into those groups? If so, come on out and see why this Group has grown to over 1,900 members. NOTE: The ONE rule of this Meetup Group is that if you SIGN UP you SHOW UP. Otherwise the restaurants have bought more supplies that they need or you blocked an available seat from someone who may have gotten frozen out. If you have a last minute emergency and the RSVP has closed please call me and let me know. I can sometimes make last minute changes and can alert the Restaurants. (518)[masked]. See you at SAKE BON!!!! • What to bring • Important to know PLEASE HONOR YOUR RSVP's

  • X MARKS THE SPOT
    • What we'll do We're back. Next up is the Sushi X in Latham where we always have enough Sushi Chefs, great food and a great price. We will dine for $21.00 cash or $22.00 credit, tax and Gratuity included. This will include hot tea but Soda and alcohol are not included. Taste the Tuna Tartar or the Bar-B-Q Calamari. Move onto sushi or Sashimi, get an order of pepper tuna to share with the table. For our new members this would be a great first Meetup for you. It's one of our larger ones and you can meet a lot of fun people. It's TAX Day so you can drop your taxes off on your way to the Meetup. No matter the excuse, just be there. Now I have a special request. I am again asking for a few more volunteers to become Assistant Organizers. I have been doing this almost since the Group started over 10 years ago. Lately the Meetups have slowed down because I have been spending time out of State. We used to do 2 per month. With some serious help we can do that again. I will be here to help but please join the Organizer team. This is too good a group - I need help to keep us running, • What to bring • Important to know

  • NEW PLACE IN TOWN - SUSHI PRIME 88
One of our Members, Michelle, found this place that just opened with a soft opening. No advertising. They were just there about a month ago. It's not even on the Web yet. So we decided to try it and it set up this Meetup. First you will find Sushi Prime 88 in the Clifton Park Town Plaza, 200 Clifton Corporate Parkway, Building 300, Clifton Park, NY. Once you turn into the Town Plaza it will be right in front of you. The decor is classy and the dinner was worth the price and the drive. We especially enjoyed the sashimi. Very fresh salmon, tuna, yellow tail and other selections were delightful and we thought of ordering more but this was after the appetizers, Pepper Tuna, Rock shrimp, BBQ Squid (this one was all mine), Gyoza and much more, I could have made a meal out of the Appetizer Menu. Then the sushi was next in line. With all of the great beginnings we didn't get many rolls. Since we usually do weekdays, and some of our members have conflicts during the week, we are trying this on a Sunday. The festivities start at 4:00 PM with a SHORT Cocktail happy hour and then we move on to dinner. Our hostess has extended the Happy Hour prices for specialty drinks to $6.00. Dinner will be $24.00, tax and gratuity included. Dinner will include hot tea and soda. Alcohol is not included, but readily available. Join us for this new discovery. Newbies, this is the perfect event to meet longer standing members and find out why we have so many happy Sushi lovers in this Meetup Group. Also, for those of you who have been Members for a long time but have not yet joined us, come aboard. We'd love to meet you.

  • SAKE BON- WE FOUND AN OLD FRIEND
Any Member who has had the pleasure of Hibachi dining may have seen the Master put 2 chopsticks on a glass of Sapporo, place a shot of sake on top and then shout, SAKE BON SAKE BON 1, 2, 3, and pound the table, sending the sake into the beer and then down the hatch. Using the comment feature below, who is it? Please join us at the new restaurant SAKE BON at its Clifton Park location. Our mystery Chef and a friend are now running the show. I have been to this location twice so far and I can say that it is going to be a leader of upscale Sushi-Hibachi restaurants in the area, competing with places you would find only in large metropolitan areas. So what does that mean for us? A Meetup event on Sunday November 19, 2017. Sunday gives most of our members fewer work conflicts, so COME ON IN!!We are being offered a fixed price of $36.00, tax and tip included. You will be entertained with soup, salad, appetizers and then each table will have its own sushi boat with Chef's choice of many of SAKE BON's delightful rolls. While this will not be an all you can eat, it will be a delightful introduction of some of the most delicious creations offered in the Capitol District. You won't have to go to New York City, Boston, or Japan to taste what has come to us. The event starts with a cocktail get together at 4:00 PM where new Members can meet some of our regulars, where some of you long standing Members who have not come to a Meetup, can start with one of our more exciting events. After cocktails we will be seated for dinner and if you're brave, AND have a designated driver, you may hear those famous words, SAKE BON SAKE BON 1,2,3. If you hear it a lot, we can arrange designated drivers. AS USUAL, ALCOHOL IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. OUR MEETUPS ARE ALWAYS CASH BAR. We are going to need a minimum of 20 Attendees to run this event so sign up fast. REMINDER: Our only rule is if you sign up, show up. Honor your RSVP's and respect our restaurants. If you have any emergencies last minute and cannot access the RSVP llist, CALL ME (518)[masked]

  • HIBACHI at SAKE
Howie is offering another Hibachi event at Sake House in Latham. Sake House is offering steak, chicken, shrimp or salmon for $25.00, or a combination of any two for $28.00, tax and tip included. If you want to add Filet, lobster, Sea Bass or scallops, add $5.00 for each addition. This will include tea and soda. Alcohol, as always, is separate. This event will start in the bar at 6:15 PM for a cocktail hour and we can get to know some of our new members. We will move into the Hibachi tables at 6:45 for a delightful dinner and show. Howie always brings us great chefs and a fun time. This is not to be missed. As with most Hibachi events there is limited seating. Reserve your place now. And remember our only rule. If you sign up, show up. Keep your RSVP's current and ivf for any reason you have to make a changeafter the sign up closes, call me (518)[masked]. We have a lot more planned for this season, including a special event offered by Akira, a visit to a new location I will be checking out this week, back to one of our old favorites. I am making a plea for Members who want to be Event Hosts or Assistant Organizers. I need help. Please join the Organizer team before I burn out.

  • Albany Sushi Meetup's 10th Anniversary Party
Happy 10th Anniversary to the Albany Sushi Meetup Group! Ten years ago, on September 5, 2007, the Sushi Meetup group was founded by Andrew Badera who, while living many miles away today, is still a Member and manages to get back to us once in a while. Hats off to you, Andrew. On that day, there were 18 members of the Meetup and your current Organizer was one of them. That Meetup happened at SUSHI TEI, who at that time was only two months old. Next month we go back to celebrate our founding and growth to over 1,800 members. Join us as we celebrate at one our favorite sushi restaurants in town: Sushi Tei. They have created an all-you-can eat extravaganza for us for $36 with tax, tip, and soda included. Included in your meal are the following appetizers  Spicy Crab Salad  Seaweed Salad  Pork Dumplings  Shrimp Dumplings  Tako Yaki  Shrimp Tempura  Jalapeno Age  Negima Yaki You may then order ANY sushi (no sashimi) you wish off the menu a-la-carte You may also order ANY regular or signature rolls off the menu. As with any all-you-can-eat event, please order only what you can actually eat. No leftovers please! Click here to Enlarge Sushi Tei menu (https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/6/b/4/highres_463782676.jpeg) ALSO, Sushi Tei will host a HAPPY HOUR for our group between 6:30pm - 8:00pm. $5 for all beer, wine, and selected cocktails on the menu below.
