Wind Farm Tour

Wind Energy and Wind Farm Tour Saturday, June 9 from 930am - 12pm.

East San Diego Country is home to the new Kumeyaay Wind Plant near Golden Acorn Casino. This tremendous asset allows us to reduct our dependence on electricity produced from fossil fuels. Wind energy is growing so fast because it is abundant, inexpensive, inexhaustible, widely distributed, clean and climate benign. A brief seminar will introduce how wind power works in general and at this new wind farm in particular, then we will visit the Kumeyaay Wind Farm. Note: This seminar/tour is offered by the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College. The free for the seminar is $30. Lunch is not included but can be purchased at the casino nearby for about $7. To sign up, call the number below.

This is an excellent opportunity to see a wind farm and these tours are only available once every couple of months so if you are interested call asap. RSVPing YES on Meetup does not save you a spot. You must call[masked] to reserve a spot, or reserve by mail to Community Learning, Cuyamaca College 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway, El Cajon, CA 92019-4304. You can also sign up in person. This was a great experience. I highly recommend going on this tour if Cuyamaca College offers the class again. We even got to go inside one of the wind turbines!!!

Google maps lied to me about how to get to Cuyamaca College :^( I think I was close, but I gave up searching around 9:45 because I figured the group was probably leaving by that point. Sorry!
