September Meetup!

Our next meetup will be hosted by Duggal Visual Solutions at their Brooklyn Navy Yard facilities.

Duggal Visual Solutions is known across the industry as being an innovative leader in all things display, illumination and print related. By combining our expertise in imaging and display fabrication services  with the cutting-edge technologies developed in conjunction with our interactive technology partners, we can provide our clients with a full range of support at any point along the way from concept through final installation.  Our wide range of products and services including printing, fixture design and fabrication, multimedia system design and integration, and custom software creation enables our clients to create a unique, engaging and memorable experience for any number of applications.

Duggal is actively seeking an experienced SOLIDWORKS draftsman.

About the Position:

We are looking for an energetic draftsman with knowledge of SOLIDWORKS, CAD or equivalent software to work with our Lighting team. Daily workflow includes, but is not limited to, working closely with the Project Administrator and department Director to acquiring pertinent information from salesman / vendors and production managers.

Producing a design solution that is achievable in the production timeline.  And ensuring that the drawing is accurate for production, client viewing and archiving the drawings and cut files.

Please contact me if you'd like more details.

Our featured presenter will be a SWUGNYC favorite Avelino Rochino.

“Advanced Surfacing Techniques for the Newbie”:  This brief presentation covers surfacing features that can be useful to anyone. I also cover beginning surfacing techniques.  The presentation is designed to take some of the mystery and fear out of surface modeling.

Matt Rohr (that's me) will be presenting:

"CAD in the Age of 3D printing"

Most design engineering software is geared towards traditional manufacturing processes, however CAD tools are increasingly being adapted to support additive manufacturing. In this presentation we will discuss ways software tools from SOLIDWORKS and its partners can be used to maximize the potential of 3D printing, the limits of current CAD software and noteworthy new developments.

Just added!

Gianluca Mattaroccia from Standard Motor Products is a Certified SolidWorks Professional and a long-time SWUGNYC attendee who will tell us his story.  Gianluca is an exceptional engineer and tooling designer. His work was featured as the splash screen of SolidWorks 2014.

SOLIDWORKS 2017 IS COMING!

September 20 is the release date for SW2017 -  a handful of SWUGNYC members are attending the launch event in Foxborough, MA and will report back with news!

Look forward to it tonight! I can always stand to learn new surfacing tricks, even if it just means doing things faster and simpler.
