Sydney Thanksgiving Dinner Pot-Luck Picnic at Bronte Beach

G'day y'all!

What better way to spend Thanksgiving than with "new" friends at a Picnic by the beach! Once again we are offering Thanksgiving with waterviews for those of us shamelessly "stuck" in the Sydney sun.

Where is it?
Bronte is in the Eastern suburbs between Coogee and Bondi. Click here to see the google map

How do I get there?
Public Transport - You can catch the 378 bus from Railway Square (at Central) or Bondi Junction Stand D. It will drop you at the park. Be aware that buses are pre-pay until 7pm. The trip from Railway square is about 35 minutes and 15 minutes from Bondi and run about every 20 minutes. Click here for the transport info line
Car - Street parking around the park. Please heed the parking signs.

What do I bring?
As you know the dinner is very important! So please bring a DISH TO SHARE: something important to you!

We need people to bring turkey which is available at Coles and Woolworths. Please post your offering on the site. Last year we had almost 100 people, so bring enough to share with a few people, and don't worry about spreading it around to everyone!

There are a few picnic tables around and BBQs that we can use to heat up different dishes. Otherwise you should bring:

  • a DISH TO SHARE with 4 or 5 other people
  • cutlery, napkins and plates for yourselves
  • beverages and cooler (esky)
  • chair or a blanket/towel to sit on
  • bathers (if you dare)
  • frisbee/ football or some other game we can play

Who can come?
The first Thanksgiving was about sharing your bounty and expertise with another culture. So of course, everyone is welcome to share the experience and the tradition!

It would be great if there was turducken i.e. a chicken stuffed in a duck, stuffed in a Turkey! The Ozzies would die for sure!

Hey guys, turkey is readily available at Woolies and Coles. We'll be looking for a few people who will bring pre-cooked and pre-carved turkey to the venue. Last year was too tough to transport turkey!!! (Think your office pot luck - but sorry, the bosses are buying the turkey!!!)

Also be aware that most ovens in Aus won't fit a 20 lb turkey to check ahead. If you're willing to cook turkey, please list here!

There is a butcher I spoke to in Bronte who can order in a turkey big enough for 12-14 people for $80. They need to be ordered 2-3 weeks in advance, so soon!

supposedly Leadoxturkeys sells turkeys (lol the name is a dead giveaway)... http://www.leadouxturkeys.com.au/pages/products.html probably shouldn't let this secret go though.
