OPEN COFFEE SYDNEY - Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and The Next Web Australian Startup Awards

Hey All

Just a quick note to wish you all a fun and safe holiday period and to say thanks for being a part of Sydney Open Coffee throughout 2009.

The groups has grown to over 858 members, which is unbelievable. Hopefully in 2010 we'll get it over 1000 and continue to find bigger and better ways to bring local tech entrepreneurs together.

On that note Thursday's meetup was the last one for the year. We'll kick off meetups again in mid-January.

Don't worry if you think you'll be suffering from withdrawals, though, I have just the perfect fix...The Next Web Australia Awards

THE NEXT WEB AUSTRALIA AWARDS

Many of you may know that I'm the editor of The Next Web Australia - a tech/web news blog.

I've decided to run some awards to recognise the best startups and people in Australia.

You can read all about them here - http://thenextweb.com/au/2009/12/18/web-australia-awards-nominate-favourites/

The post for the first award, Best New Australian Startup for 2009, is already up and awaiting your nominations in the comments.

Please help spread the word by making sure you retweet each award post as well as sharing them with your facebook friends.

I'm planning on putting the list of finalists and the winners up on the main The Next Web.com site which does around 1 Million Unique Visitors per month, so it's vital that we get a good selection of startups and people to show the world what Aussies can do.

That's it for now. All the best and I'll see you next year!

Kim
