This class will guide students through the setup and use of the Shopbot. We will start from where the CAM setup class finishes with the Shopbot cut file prepared and after I explain and demonstrate the process each student will individually go through setting up the machine, load the file, change tools and make their own Synshop sign.
This introductory class will cover the following:
Shopbot operation: job setup, fixtures, tools, safety, cleanup
Job set up: coordinate reference, CNC principles, hot key shortcuts
Basic woodworking theory: which bits and why
Example runs for each student: each student will learn to load material, load a job, and will take home a 15" round Synshop sign cut from 1/2" MDF.
This class is limited to 6 and will repeat bi-weekly until everyone has a chance to attend then will be once monthly. If the class fills up there is a wait list to RSVP for the next class.
This class will not cover programming or CAD/CAM software, so we recommend that you have some basic familiarity with those concepts or take the CAM class first to get the most out of this class.
This is one class in a 3 part series including design and CAM setup.
