The Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association (LVEVA), a local chapter of the international Electric Auto Association (EAA), will hold a monthly general meeting at SYN Shop Hackerspace on Saturday, May 11th from 10 AM to noon.

The local LVEVA chapter was first founded at the Desert Research Institute in Las Vegas during the 1990s to encourage the promotion of electric vehicles and EV charging station infrastructure within southern Nevada.
Members of the LVEVA began the organization by converting existing gasoline-powered cars and trucks to battery-powered vehicles.
As batteries, motors and electronic technologies improved, LVEVA members promoted educational outreach about electric vehicles, to encourage the production of electric cars and trucks by major automotive manufacturers, along with the roll-out of public EV charging station infrastructure throughout the state of Nevada.
