DOG HIKE at WASHINGTON STATE PARK, 1,000 Steps Trail
Details
We did this trail last year, and it's gorgeous. Big hill up, lots of rocks, cool overlook pavilion and back down. We stop at the river on the way back to the cars and let the dogs play.
As always, with our "campout hikes", plans are not carved in stone. Be flexible. That's what campouts are all about. No real agenda, just do it when we're ready. Kinda depends on how much the group parties the night before. Understand, this is FIRST a campout, and then a hike.
If you want to hike, be at the campground NO LATER THAN 9:30 a.m.
Bring your own coffee and snacks. We'll probably be sitting around the campfire and will leave for the hike somewhere around 10:00. Campsites are posted on campout writeup, once we start reserving. But we shouldn't be hard to find.
Usual hiking rules apply:
Bring water for your dogs
Short leash only, no retractables.
Wear appropriate footwear - hiking boots or shoes.
Poles recommended.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Use your GPS or meetup mapping. There are a couple of entrances to the park. Use the second entrance. There is a sign, as I recall, that says something like "RVs use second entrance". Signs throughout the park for the campground. Allow time to find the campground and then to find our group.
