To the Freaks and Thinkers:
I have been out of sorts for film meetups with this group and still sort of am, but The Eckerd International film Series is bringing in a gem that I really want to see and maybe talk about with some of you willing to come along.
Like Someone in Love is the second film done by Abbas Kiarostami outside his home country of Iran. The main reason I am so interested in this was because his first film outside Iran was the amazing romance mystery Certified Copy, a film that I tell you generated so much conversation afterward about what was really going on.
I suspect this film will have a lot of the same interesting twists. It is about a prostitute in Tokyo who develops a paid for friendship with an elderly man but because of the expectations of those in the lives of both friends, thing spiral in many odd ways.
I really would like to see this film and maybe go somewhere to talk about it because I hear there is a lot to talk about.
