I can not be there early! I will have to be late. Sorry business before pleasure. Can anybody get there early to claim a pavillion and maybe start the coals?
Does anybody have a flag? That would help mark the pavillion.
I think we should check out the first four pavillion first since they are centrally located. If they are taken, then we will check out 7 & 8 pavillions next.
The first picnic was in 2011! Let's make this an annual event. The pictures are here: http://www.meetup.com/tampa-bay-thinkers/photos/all_photos/?photoAlbumId=4905412
Yes, this date is set. Please bring utensils, food and picnic stuff!
Does anybody want to pray for nice weather? ;)
The 240-acre site offers something for everyone. Wooded picnic areas and playground are family favorites. A bicycle path/jogging trail, complete with a fitness course, meander through the park. Lettuce Lake is also a haven for nature study. An interpretive center, featuring exhibits, leads to a 3,500 ft. boardwalk and an observation tower where visitors can view an extensive variety of wildlife. The parks also has canoes/kayaks available for rent.
(813) 987-6204 park closes at 5:30, $75 to rent a pavillion, otherwise "first come, first serve," but 11 shelters available, park kicks us out at 6 PM http://www.hillsboroughcounty.org/Facilities/Facility/Details/7937
Colin has BBQ coals and lighter fluid.
Map of park is here: http://fl-hillsboroughcounty.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/Home/View/1073
Shelters 1-4 are obviously the most accessible. 7 & 8 are on the water though.
There is a 1.25 mile bicycle path/jogging traiI with a three story observation tower. I suggest a volunteer lead us on a hike before lunch.
Anybody have football or frisbee?
50-60 come daily to walk their dogs. Pets must be on leash and not indoors.
