From shell scripts to IDEs, we programmers spend a lot of time finding tools to optimize our development workflow. But how often are you given tools to debug your career?
How do you know that you're in the right position, at the right company, doing the right things for you? What does progress in a technical career track look like? Does becoming more senior inevitably mean becoming a manager?
If you've been looking for answers on how to debug your career, kick off 2016 by joining us on the afternoon of Sat, Jan 16 for a unique dev.config workshop & panel.
Hear from Omer Aziz, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Sysomos, on how to predictively reproduce "flow (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology))" using your strengths rather than your weaknesses.
Don't know your strengths? Not to worry since we'll spend part of the afternoon actually completing an assessment quiz to find out your top 5 strengths. Please bring your wifi-enabled laptop for this portion of the workshop.
We'll have time for coffee and mingling. Then close off the afternoon with a panel discussion with Bijan Vaez from EventMobi, Monika Piotrowicz from Shopify, and Derek Watson from TWG on career debugging, moderated by your dev.config organizers Pearl Chen and Ahmad Nassri.
Keep an eye on @DevConfig (http://twitter.com/DevConfig) and join the #CareerDebugging (https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&q=CareerDebugging&src=typd) Twitter chat. Use the hashtag #CareerDebugging for an extra $5 off the Sat workshop+panel. We'll monitor the hashtag and give you the discount at the door. (If you already paid, partial refunds will be issued).
You can also join us in the Techmasters Slack (http://techmasters.chat), under the #devconfig channel, to chat with fellow attendees before, during, and after Saturday's workshop+panel.

A note about why we are charging for the event:
The Strengths Finder assessment costs $15 USD (which is just under $22 CAD). As part of registering for the afternoon, you will receive an activation code to complete the quiz.
However, with the support of Alliants (http://www.alliants.com/), we have been able to lower the event ticket price to $15 CAD! Thank you, Alliants!
Due to payment integration issues with PayPal and Meetup.com, if you haven't already paid, we will collect your workshop fee at the door. Please bring exact change.
And thank you to TWG (http://theworkinggroup.ca) for hosting the event.
