COHAA Evening Meeting: Agile Team Management: A Plea for Change

The Agile movement has caused a radical shift in the role of management. Specifically, the Scrum framework can leave many managers feeling like a piece of driftwood in 30 ft. seas. Managers who are used to holding the keys to the kingdom find their power and influence over their subjects greatly reduced. Some managers adjust, but others react by attempting to regain control through traditional management methods. So the question remains, what IS the role of management in an Agile world? Join this interactive discussion when we will explore the leadership style shift needed to effectively manage and lead people in an Agile environment while still supporting and encouraging a culture of innovation, collaboration and accountability.

Bio:
Gabi Vandermark, a long-experienced agile coach, Java/SOA architect and change agent, incorporates people, process and technology in improving the environment and situation for IT organizations. Her past deep background in development, architecture and services creation and operations affords her a unique view into the interworking’s, challenges and opportunities familiar to most technology departments. Gabi gets excited about analyzing a team and introducing subtle but strategic changes to improve effectiveness, quality, enjoyment and productivity in the organizations she serves.
