I Can Make an App for That: Heroku for Fun and Profit

Whether it's a side project, a prototype, or even a production system, Heroku could be a great fitfor your next endeavor.  This talk will give you an overview of the Heroku ecosystem.  We'll go oversome of the perks and caveats of deploying and scaling an app without having to directly maintain itsinfrastructure.  We'll also configure and deploy a new application in the space of a few minutes to demonstratehow easy getting started can be.

Chris Westra spent the first 5 years of his professional life as an ATV suspension designer for Honda R&D.  It took him a while, but he realized that he liked writing code more than his day job.  He got started in web development because he wanted to keep track of his homebrewing from work.  Chris currently works as a Ruby on Rails developer for Facio.  During his free time he's probably doing something related to software, beer, or music.  He sings in the Columbus Symphony chorus and plays viola for local bands from time to time.
