DEC Presents: Intellectual Property Basics

Please join us August 13, 10 a.m.-12 noon for two separate sessions on intellectual property. The first session is from 10-11 a.m. on “Intellectual Property Basics.” The second session is from 11 a.m. – 12 noon on “Patents as a Competitive Edge for Your Business.”

Program: If you own a business, you likely have intellectual property. Have you considered what it means to protect these assets? Join Ron Koch, licensed patent attorney, as he presents an Intellectual property primer covering patents, trademarks, copyrights; IP litigation basics; invention commercialization, prototyping, and IP valuation.


· A basic understanding of intellectual property, including the similarities and differences between patents, copyrights, and trademarks, as well as the associated costs

· A basic understanding of infringement litigation involving patents, copyrights, and trademarks

· How to perform a rudimentary patent search

· Understanding patent trolls and invention promoters
