#techMAPLondon - get ready! Mark W. Schaefer is coming to London town to talk to us about his new book ROI.

Dozens of companies just like Klout are slicing, dicing, and dissecting the billions of bits of information published on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook each day and grading your ability to create buzz.  The most powerful of these new “Citizen Influencers” are rewarded by the world’s biggest brands with trips, merchandise, and luxury cars. Today, anyone can get behind the velvet rope … if you know how!

Mark Schaefer’s latest book is an essential guide to the latest trends in social networking. Return On Influence: The Revolutionary Power of Klout, Social Scoring, and Influence Marketing shows you how to measure, adapt, and grow your influence online using groundbreaking new technologies and field-tested marketing tools. This is a step-by-step guide that shows you how to take advantage of social scoring systems to measure online influence, harness it, and leverage it for your business.

Whether you’re the CEO of a large corporation, run your own small business, or are seeking your own place of power on the social web, Return On Influence is the essential field guide for the new influence marketing.

@MarkWSchaefer is a College educator, Founder of Social Slam; conference, blogger at Bussinesses Grow, and author of Return On Influence and The Tao of Twitter . Mark is coming to London all the way from the US of A.  :D   Get a sneak peak of Mark in action here

Join us April 16th from 6.15pm at the Fishburn Hedges Offices. Mark will start speaking at 7pm, followed by some Q&A, networking and then drinks, we'll head to the Shakespeares Head next door for more drinks around 8.30-9.00.

This should be one very good evening! We hope to see all you crazy kids out for this one!

Excellent talk. I learnt a lot and made great contacts. Can't wait for the next event.

Always a good meet up. Mark is a great guy - I have listened to him in podcasts, interviews and learnt LOADS from his blog. While entertaining his talk was very middle of the road and nothing new for me or a large section of the audience. To stand out like he should Mark should push the envelope when speaking about this subject.

I have to acknowledge Mark is a great speaker, with convincing storytelling abilities; good that he wants to spread the word about online influence but I found he overrates Klout.

Clearly he's sponsored by Klout and fine if he's promoting it, what is really dangerous is to put it as the ultimate tool for online influence, which couldn't be more far from reality, creating wrong expectations on people that is not well versed in social media topics.

I was really surprised he couldn't answer convincingly the most obvious question it could possibly arrive given his book's title: how to connect Klout and influence with business metrics > ROInfluence vs ROInvestment, which is absolutely basic if you're trying to use social influence to benefit your brand.

It'd be great to invite him again but not as a "star speaker", but as part of a discussion panel with other social media influence leading minds.

Lots of food for thought and good lively presenter - not an expert and I know there's been some negative feedback about Mark bigging up Klout, I found it quite illuminating though

Mark set the scene and worked the crowd fantastically - as always, the talk sparked some great conversation for the rest of the evening...
