Retreat Styled Weekend in Bangkok with Venerable Ajahn Vajiro (non-residential)

ต้องการสถานที่

You are invited to immediately indicate your interest to attend this event. VENERABLE AJAHN VAJIRO was born in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in 1953. He studied in England and obtained a degree in Economics in 1974. In 1977, he met Ajahn Chah and Ajahn Sumedho when they arrived at the Hampstead Vihara in London. He joined the community in early 1978 and in 1979 just after LP Chah’s second visit to the West and just after the start of Chithurst Monastery, he left for Thailand to start his monastic training. He received Upasampada (higher ordination) at Wat Nong Pah Pong in June 1980. Ajahn Vajiro returned to England in 1984 and was asked to help with the opening of Amaravati Buddhist Monastery. From 1985 he lived at Harnham Buddhist Monastery in northern England, moving south to Chithurst Forest Monastery in 1986. Seven years later in 1993 he moved to lead the Bodhinyanarama community in Wellington, New Zealand staying until 1998. Following this he entered a three year retreat in the hermitage Sanghaloka near Melbourne, Australia before returning to Amaravati in 2001 at the invitation of Luang Por Sumedho. While in Amaravati, Ajahn Sumedho asked him to advise a lay group in Portugal that had expressed interest to begin a monastery there. In 2010, this led to a formal invitation to establish a Forest Tradition monastery in Portugal and the result is now Sumedharama Buddhist Monastery near Lisbon Portugal, where Ajahn has lived since July 2012. The monastic community in Portugal is usually about six bhikkhus, three of whom are Portuguese. Ajahn’s kind offer gives us an opportunity to take advantage of his 39 years ordained experience with Ajahn Chah’s teachings across several cultures. For further information about Ajahn, please see: https://forestsangha.org/teachings/audio/speakers/ajahn-vajiro Come and participate in a dhamma weekend that will help beginners start and experienced practioners deepen their practice. Daily retreat times (arrival/ departure): Saturday 07:30 until 20:30; Sunday 07:30 until 19:30. A single vegetarian meal will be available at 10:30 each day. Formal registration and payment of the (estimated) THB 500 cost will begin November 4 when the confirmed prices and full details/ schedule / location map/ what to bring etc will be given. Please email [masked] NOW to place your name on the list. Room size of 50 limits attendance. A waiting list will be used for excess applicants.
