Thonburi Part III- Taling Chan floating market and Artist house

ที่ตั้งถูกเปิดเผยให้กับสมาชิก

Hi all, This time adventure, we're visiting Thonburi once again, but in the afternoon. We'll start at Thonburi Railway station pier or #N11, walking pass Bann Bu community who produce bronze ware, then to Wat Suwan where is one of the bueatiful mural paiting in Bangkok. The train garage where the old train were kept. After that we will take either bus or Songteaw (Red Van) to Taling Chan floating market where it has everything you need to spend a good lunch. Here you can enjoy a great seafood lunch sitting on the floor with the locals. After finishing lunch we will ride the long tail boat from the market to the artist house which will enjoy the paiting mask, feeding fish and puppet show. As always, please bring 390 THB for your tour guide. The transport can be paid on the spot (bus or songteaw van is not much, long tail boat to Artist house is 100 baht/person round trip), and the dishes themselves can be paid individually, as you see fit (some people might not wish to sample all the food, even though it is really good). And ... as with every other previous walk, we would like to ask to PLEASE leave home on time. When that should be, depends on where you live, but unless you live nearby, we suggest leaving AT LEAST an hour beforehand. The guide can wait for 5-10minutes but then the group will leave. Also, kindly RSVP no later than 7pm the day before. This gives us a good idea as to how many fellow adventurers will be there that evening.

Samut Prakarn (Fortress City)

Pak Nam BTS Station

Samut Prakan is situated just north of the Gulf of Thailand. The old section of the district is still referred to as Pak Nam, which means "river mouth”. Since the city is located as the frontier. Then there were many old forts along the river to defense Siam from the invaders. This time we will visit the 2 old forts 1. Phi Suea Samut Fort or the butterfly ocean fort which had been built since king rama II. He also commanded to install the "disappearing gun" 2. Phra Chedi Klang Nam’, or Pagoda in the river. The island was partly natural caused by the accumulation of sand brought down by the flood waters. Over the years the river has silted up even more causing the island to become part of the west bank. 3. Phra Chulachomklao Fort is located on the river mouth of the Chao Phraya River. It was built in the reign of King Rama V to protect the country from an invasion of European countries during the time of colonisation. This fort was used to fight against the enemies in The Franco-Siamese War in 1893 when Kingdom of Siam was facing the invasion of two powerful countries. 4. A decommissioned ships which was in service for the longest period of the navy, HTMS Maeklong. As always, please bring 400 THB for your tour guide. The transport can be paid on the spot (boat or songteaw van is not much). And ... as with every other previous walk, we would like to ask to PLEASE leave home on time. When that should be, depends on where you live, but unless you live nearby, we suggest leaving AT LEAST an hour beforehand. The guide can wait for 5-10minutes but then the group will leave. Cheers (:
