learn to fly: crow / bakasana flow

“What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, What if you fly? 🕊️ ~Erin Hanson

Crow Pose / Bakasana is an arm balance that looks scarier than it is to practice. It challenges you to focus on lifting versus falling. You are supporting your weight on your hands, and that requires you to face the fear of face planting into the floor.
Crow Pose encourages body awareness and honing in on the mind-body connection while flying in the air. It is the perfect balance of holding on and letting go. Crow Pose invites you to accept your fears and embrace the courage to fly. 🦅

On & Off The Mat: 🧘🧘‍♂️
The first time I got into grow was incredibly special to me, as I'm sure it was for many other yogis. It was the first arm balance I had accessed, I had never felt more confident in my body and in myself. On the mat Crow Pose is an amazing full body workout. It works your arms and core muscles, as well as strengthens your wrists, upper back, and legs.
Off the mat Crow Pose encourages inner focus and concentration in the here and now, the present moment. All balancing postures bring more focus and concentration into our everyday lives and projects we may be working on. This pose is a symbol for integrity, confidence and bravery. With continued practice Crow Pose builds a connection to our feelings, emotions, and creative energy.

What to expect: 👀
A Hatha/ Vinyasa flow dedicated to Bakasana/ Crow pose.
With every pose we may face a new challenge, in this instance, arm balancing. We need to come to the practice with an open and playful mind.
Our practice will warm up and prepare the body to play around in Bakasana and its variations, including “baby crow” / “side crow” / “fallen angel” / “one legged flying crow” and playing around with arm balances such as “flying pigeon” and “eight-angle pose”! 🤸
Join Sabrina Asana Tribe / Asana Tribe , take flight into Crow as we press into this delicious pose!
The practice will start with Pranayama (breathing techniques), helping us to center and enter the present moment, warming up the body and entering our flow to lead and play in Bakasana/ Crow as well as its wonderful variations and alternative arm balances. We’ll end our practice with Savasana and Yoga Nidra 🤤🌈🦄

Bakasana is excellent at helping us strengthen our core muscles.
It helps improve forearm, wrist and shoulder strength.
It aids in both toning and strengthening thigh muscles.
Stretches the groin.
Improves balance.
The intense rounding of the back stretches the upper back and shoulder muscles
