Bluebells Walk in the Chilterns from Nettlebed, including a cafe break
Details
Join us on Friday afternoon for a walk from Nettlebed, amongst the bluebells and through the beech woods in the Chilterns, with a break for afternoon tea at the cafe at the Maker Space (formerly Crown pub) near Nuffield Place. It's about 6 miles long and fairly flat, apart from the remains of some clay pits and quarrying on Nettlebed Common near the end (which can be avoided).
As well as displays of bluebells on Nettlebed Common and in the woods near Nuffield Place they are also in full bloom along many of the paths between.
Meet in the road behind the green in Nettlebed at 1:30. We should get to the Maker Space for tea by about 3:00.
According to their menu they have scones with jam and clotted cream, as well as a selection of cakes, flapjacks, brownies etc. The exact finish time will will depend upon how long we stop for tea.
Those who aren't FULL MEMBERS OF THE CLUB (filled in a form and paid the annual fee), or members of another IVC, will be asked to make a small contribution to the running of the group (e.g. £2).
Directions from Reading:
Head North on the B481 to Nettlebed. Turn left at the mini-roundabout just outside the village, the green will soon be in view on your right. Turn right by the large bus shelter into the road that goes round the back of the green.
