Come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, hiking poles, hiking boots, bug spray and dress in layers.
We do ask for a contribution of $3 per hike or $15 per year to cover meetup.com fees.
The Bull Hill Full Loop (also known as Mount Taurus Full Loop) in Cold Spring, NY, is a rewarding and moderately challenging hike in the Hudson Highlands. It’s a favorite for those seeking panoramic views, forest solitude, and a solid workout — all under 90 minutes from NYC.

- Location: Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, Cold Spring, NY
- Distance: ~5.5 miles (Full Loop)
- Elevation Gain: ~1,400 feet
- Duration: 3 hours
- Difficulty: Moderate
- Trail Markings: White (Washburn Trail), Yellow, Red, and Blue trails depending on the loop configuration
🌄 Highlights
- Breathtaking Views: Multiple lookouts over the Hudson River, West Point, Storm King Mountain, and Bannerman’s Island.
- Old Quarry Ruins: Early in the hike, you’ll pass remnants of the Cornish Estate and an old quarry, adding some historical interest.
- Lush Forest: Oak and pine woods, rocky outcrops, and seasonal wildflowers make the forest sections peaceful and scenic.
- Wildlife: Expect chipmunks, hawks, and maybe deer. Fall brings great foliage.
