Healthy hotpot with unlimited veggies at iPot
There are plenty of places to have hot pot in Hong Kong, but the cutely named iPot in Tin Hau has quickly become one of my favourites!
This Taiwanese-styled shabu shabu restaurant is pretty small with a capacity of about 30, and each person gets their own little hotpot with their choice of soup base: tomato, Hokkaido milky, curry, Taiwanese ‘mala’ (numbing) spicy, veggie, beef or chicken.
The dinner sets include your soup, a serving of meat (beef, chicken, lamb, etc.) and unlimited trips to the hotpot buffet stations. There, you’ll find things like assorted veggies, tofu, squid, lobster balls, prawn cakes, lotus root, udon, ramen, instant noodles, vermicelli, mushrooms and more.
Drinks-wise, they’ve got prune juice, winter melon juice and roselle tea available, or a selection of sodas on ice that are also unlimited. At the end of the meal, you’ll even get a small 75-ml cup of Haagen Daz ice cream! How sweet is that.
The best part was how clean and fresh everything was, which is super critical when you’re serving something buffet style. There are two seatings for dinner: 6:30pm-8:30pm and 8:30pm-10:30pm, where it’s all you can eat during those two hours.
