Backpacking - Courtright Reservior to Red Mountain Basin

Multi Day backpacking trip from Courtright Reservoir to Red Mt Basin; an area of stunning alpine scenery. This will be a five day/four night trek within the John Muir Wilderness of the central Sierra, located around 50 air miles NE of Fresno.

Distance: 30+ miles
Elevation Gain: around 3,000 ft
Difficulty: Strenuous
Out and Back
The trailhead is Maxon which is accessed toward the southeastern side of Courtright Reservoir (8,000 ft)

Meet at Maxon trail head at 9AM.
Our route will be Blackcap Trail to Hell-For-Sure trail, ending up at one of the high elevation lakes (9,800+/- ft)

Proposed Itinerary:
Day 1: Trail head to Post Corral Meadow, seven miles/1,100 ft
Day 2: Post Corral to lake of our choice (Disappointment/Dale/Fleming); 6 or 7 miles/2,500 ft; our hardest day.
Day 3: Layover day to explore lakes/option to climb 12,000 ft Red Mt
Day 4: Return to Post Corral Meadow
Day 5: Return to trail head

Camping the night prior available in the Courtright/Shaver Lakes area, need to research further.

RSVP
Permit is for eight. Your RSVP will initially go to the waitlist. Priority will be given to those I know who can complete the trip without difficulty and who will enjoy the experience with the group. A lottery may be necessary depending upon of RSVPs. For those I do not know, I will send via Meetup messaging a few questions regarding your backpacking experience, etc.
