2nd Friday Gaming - Galleria :: Theme - Patriotic!

New members are joining every week - looking forward to meeting more of you at this meetup! AS ALWAYS : bring games that you want to play or have had a hard time finding players for.
THEME:
Patriotic! (it is 9/11 after all.) any games that theme around America; history, sports, pop culture, trains, etc. You may already be doing it, but I'll encourage everyone to wear red, white and blue or other patriotic "fashion accents". Of course, Dominion seemed to get good reviews from the last Saturday meetup... I'd like to get a group picture this time around for the Meetup website.
BONUS: some time during the evening our good friends at Nord's Games will be handing out
20% store discount
love struck coupons to those who are BBG members and in attendance this night!

Tons of games to go around! A good mix of current favorites and games that I love but haven't gotten to play in years.

This was my first time attending a meet up for the board gaming group and I was very pleased that I went. I look forward to the ext meet up.

I had a good time playing Powergrid and talking about some games. There were many people in attendance, makes it easy to find a game you are intersted in playing. We each also received coupons for Nord's games, which is pretty nice.

Another great evening of games. several new faces tonight and we got our 20% discount cards from Nord's Games!

Interesting, that question mark should be an ellipsis, guess Meetup doesn't support wacky characters.

I'm going to try and bring some games by US designers? What's more patriotic than playing american games? ;)

sounds good Sarah - "we like to think of the theme as more like guidelines than actual rules" - to misquote a pirate we all know..

I'm working on the assumption that it if it has a map of the US, I can consider it patriotic. If no one else is, I can bring Power Grid.

wow - looking like there will be no shortage of folks to play with!

I'll bring Memoir '44. I know it's not necessarily "Patriotic", but I'd love to play Power Grid.

As of today, I'm planning on bringing Go West!, Manhattan, Monsters Menace America, EA Chrononauts, and Monopoly Deal. I'll be prepared to teach any of them that anyone is interested in, so don't worry if you haven't played before.

I am going to try to be there, I will likely be late getting there as I don't get off work until 5pm and work in Sylacauga

I was a Nord's this afternoon and saw the coupons - they even specifically say "Birmingham Board Game" group on them.

Patriotic, eh? That's tough. From our collection: Wyatt Earp and Bang! are based in the American old west. The Big Idea is a fun take on capitalism and marketing. And nobody gets beat up for their Lunch Money quite like kids in the USA, right? =)

A challenge is always good. Monster and Chrononauts sound interesting. The only things that I really have are *Tank Battle and *Dogfight (American Heritage game).

Yowzer, this is a tough theme!
From our collection, we have: *Bermuda Triangle * Early American Chrononauts *Go West! *Ticket to Ride *Monsters Menace America *Chicago Express *Manhattan *Edison & Co. *Canyon *Acquire *Seismic *Power Grid *Empire Builder and *Silverton.
Some of these might have space limitations (little tiny tables) but if you really want to see any of them, let me know.
