RE: Anyone doing anything for Halloween

Hi Asses (not gender specific),

A friend (my contractor) and I are going to Ottobar on Howard Street above 25th in Baltimore to hear his nephew's band(4 brothers), Tears of Mars, play at their Halloween Extravaganza. Tears of Mars is awesome. They are the third band playing that night, out of five. Doors open at 8. Costumes are in order, though Kevin and I are not dressing up.

Josiah, the lead singer in the band has an incredible voice. He is only 23 and an incredible young man in so many ways. The band was pre-registered on line by someone for the America's Got Talent auditions up in Philly last weekend. They did their audition and were called back in to talk, during which they were told that if they were in the competion they could not do their own music, but only covers of well-known music. They won't know anything for sure until January. Taping is next year. A man in the line for the auditions was a voice coach. He said that he had never worked with anyone with such an incredible voice. He does this thing where he jumps an octave or so and I don't even know what you call it, but he hits perfect pitch when he does and it has quite an effect. It is nearly a show stopper. His diction is excellent too, which is unusual in many singers.

Kevin's whole, very close-knit family is musical. Most of them play in bands. They are all also very sensitive, spiritual, warm and yet fun people. There is strong tech running in that family. Kevin's 80 year old mother came down to a recent gig of Kevin's in Glen Burnie. I didn't get to go because I was sick. I don't think she will be there for this one, Halloween is a bit much for an 80 year old.

Anyhoo, email me by 6 P.M. if you are interested in trying to meet-up. Plan to be there when the door opens, as it is bound to be jam-packed.

Marci

ASSes and ASSettes! LET'S GO OUT AND EAT SOME FOOOOOOOOOOOD!

Announcing a new Meetup for The Anti-Social Social (ASS) Club!

What: Dinner at Koco's Pub

When: November 6,[masked]:00 PM

Where:
Koco's Pub
4301 Harford Rd
Baltimore, MD 21214

Koco's serves what some contend to be THE best crabcake in the Baltimore area. Located in Baltimore City, in Hamilton. Have been wanting to go for a long time...now I KNOW that THURSDAY is "Crab Cake Night" but as much of a CheapASS as I am - I'm too Anti-Social to want to deal with the mobs and mobs of people. I'd like to go on a weeknight, but the truth of the matter is that (OK I'm whinin' now) that it's too far to go on a school night and my little freshmen keep me oh so busy.

It's been too quiet around here though - things need to be done. If anyone is willing to host a happy hour somewhere, just shout at me and I'll set it up. During the school year my time is much, much less abundant. I miss my ASS brethren to no end though - let's do stuff when we can!

Is 7PM too late? I wondered if 6:30 PM would be too early for some folks. State your preferences, vent your spleen, and I will amend to the desires of those who wish to attend.
