In 2016, Lauren Doll asked her Doll sisters to YOLO! By definition, YOLO means: "You only live once." Lauren wants to activate the word within The Black Doll Affair!
In a text she sent me over the holidays (and approved me to share), Lauren Doll wrote: "D, as I prepare mentally and plan for 2016, I can't help but to do so with a heart full of intent. Creating visions of intention has inspired me to think about what virtue I want more of, what I am passionate about and what challenges I want to overcome. To encompass all of this, I am coming up with a word as a constant reminder, motivation and inspiration. My word? Greatness. Because I am (finally) aware of how amazing I am and can be. I welcome all of the blessings coming my way. I deserve everything wonderful in this world."
I (Mama Doll) responded to Lauren's text with this: "YES! Yes is my word. The word "Yes.," with only a period behind it, is my 2016 word and way of living! Because I often wonder what would happen if I just said "YES." to life. Adding no ifs, ands or buts! How, I asked, would my life unfold differently if I said YES to the uncommon, the unstaged, the unplanned. In what ways would, could my life unfold if I allowed life to drive me, instead of me driving my life? How would my journey be different? In what exhilarating ways would my life unfold for me? IF I let go? Well, the very thought of letting go of convention and allowing life to unfold as it may, SCARES the hell out of me."
That's why I was all in and on board Lauren's challenge to hue and I! Now an annual tradition, Lauren is asking her Doll sisters, "What's your YOLO word and why did you choose it?"
So Dolls, Lauren and I are asking you: If you can let go of fear and BELIEVE in your journey unfolding as it may, what's your YOLO word? Tell us in the feed and, as this year unfolds, share photos and commentary of your life's YOLO moments.
Officially, here's how to get involved and live a magically unplanned life ...
1. Make your personal Yolo Diary on January 1st - put your word and your intent in it.
2. Live up to it - everyday in every way - especially when the fear presents itself..
2. Regularly document your YOLO journey by uploading photos in this Affair's photo album. Be sure and leave commentary on your album. Use the hashtag: #blackdollsyolo2017
3. YOLO! In every moment that presents itself in 2017.
Dolls, if not now when?
